What We Stand For

The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) is guided by four core pillars that define its commitment to the journalism profession and the public. We champion press freedom, ensuring journalists can work independently and safely while safeguarding the public’s right to credible information.

We uphold ethical journalism by promoting accuracy, fairness, accountability, and professionalism in every aspect of reporting. Through training and professional development, we empower media practitioners with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in an ever-changing media landscape.

Finally, through the GJA Awards, we celebrate excellence and recognise journalists whose work exemplifies integrity, innovation, and outstanding service to society. Together, these pillars reflect our unwavering commitment to strengthening journalism and advancing democratic values in Ghana.

We are committed to defending press freedom and the safety of journalists. We promote an independent media that operates without intimidation, censorship or interference, while promoting the public's right to access credible information.

We promote the highest standards of professionalism and ethical journalism. We encourage accuracy, fairness, impartiality, accountability and responsible reporting in line with the Association's Code of Ethics and international best practices.

We are dedicated to building the capacity of journalists through continuous professional development. Through training programmes, workshops, seminars and strategic partnerships, the GJA equips media professionals with the knowledge and skills needed to thrive in a rapidly evolving media landscape.

The GJA Awards celebrate excellence in journalism and recognise outstanding contributions to the media profession. The annual awards honour journalists whose work demonstrates professionalism, innovation, public service and a commitment to the highest standards of journalism in Ghana.
